Pop Art Inspired Pet Packaging Design Celebrates the Unique Identity of Pets

The "Pet Pet" project started in September 2021 in Athens and was completed in December of the same year. By February 2022, the redesigned packages were already on the shelves of pet stores and supermarkets. The design team, led by Antonia Skaraki and Art Director Valia Alousi, took inspiration from the joy and companionship pets bring to their lives. The bark of a dog, a sound that brought them immense joy, became the melody that guided the design process.

The design's unique properties lie in its ability to capture the essence of a pet's identity. Using clean lines, shapes, and infographics, the design team created an imprint of a relationship full of love. The design moves in terms of pop art, a choice made to reflect the simplicity that is also a signature of the design. The result is a packaging design that has a strong visual impact on customers and stands out on the shelves.

The packaging is made using plastic doypacks, with each doypack measuring 140mm in width, 60mm in depth, and 210mm in height. The challenge was to print with the least colors possible for each product code while achieving a variety of products with distinct differences between them. This challenge was successfully overcome, resulting in a range of products that each have their own unique identity.

Despite the lack of formal research for this project, the design team's deep understanding of their subject matter and their creative approach to design resulted in a product that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The design team's ability to translate their love for pets into a tangible product is a testament to their skill and creativity.

The Silver A' Design Award is awarded to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The "Pet Pet" design, with its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, certainly fits this description.
